Family Law Considerations
Welcome to Cost-effective Representation
Ms. Lang offers a cost-free initial consultation of about one-half hour to discuss your case. She is a sole practitioner without the need for expensive downtown office space and can tailor her own fee structures. She has been taking some low conflict cases on a monthly payment or periodic payment agreement basis. Monthly payment arrangements may be made, especially when there is a balance due after completion of a case. Clients can expect some pro bono work: both short term or new clients, but especially long-term clients. Ms. Lang promises that her underlying hourly rate is low, especially for the number of years she has practiced. She can offer low hourly rates and retainers because her overhead is low. She will start a case for a cost-effective retainer, realizing that many times a client is dragged into litigation in a surprise move from the opposing party, and they are in need of an immediate responsive action.

Ms. Lang has represented clients in a multitude of family law matters since 1994 including custody, divorce, paternity, adoption, guardianship, civil protective order cases, prenuptial and post-nuptial contracts, visitation disputes, child support disputes, modification of child support orders, child protective orders, mediation, including trial and appellate court cases and undisputed will and family trust documents. Some clients have settled their disputes prior to retaining Ms. Lang to finish the paperwork.
Expert Advice & Representation
Marsha McQuarrie Lang | Attorney
Ms. Lang has served urban and rural clients in almost every county in this State. Her primary practice has been directed to the cities in the Third District. She is currently available, as always, in First, Second and Third District Cities; however, she has decided to make efforts to serve rural communities in Utah, especially those without easy access to attorneys in major cities.
When it is necessary because of the complexity of the issues involved, Ms. Lang uses outside experts to research case law or consult with others. She endeavors to provide quality representation, incorporating thoroughness and relevancy under current laws and procedures. Ms. Lang encourages clients to come up with winning strategies and to take control of their case, instead of merely responding to the actions of others. Ms. Lang is especially known for her work in custody disputes and especially for fathers. Quite often, fathers find themselves intimidated in their efforts to have more time with their children and more input to decisions surrounding their children’s lives. Currently, in Utah, Father’s rights concerning control and access to their children’s lives have vastly improved.
